Location

Samoëns, Haute-Savoie, France

Ferme du Ciel is located on the sunny heights of Samoëns in the quaint and quiet hamlet of Mathonex, which is a short 5-minute drive to the centre of the village and a 10-minute drive to any of the 3 main gondolas for the Samoëns and Morillon Ski stations.

In other words, Ferme du Ciel is characterized by ease of accessibility. In addition, we are only one hour from Geneva and two hours from the Lyon, Chambéry or Grenoble airports.

Samoëns

It is a hidden gem in the Haute-Savoie. The historic heart of Samoëns has remained intact, and almost 1.000 years of “septimontain” culture and history can be seen. Similarly, historic churches, fountains, public gardens and traditional stone masonry architecture can be found throughout the village and make strolling through the winding medieval streets a joy and pleasure.

This village boasts plenty of small boutique shops encompassing chocolatiers, sports and clothing stores, but also chic alpine homewares, local wine, and artisanal food shops. In addition, the village hosts many fantastic restaurants and bars. There is also a traditional weekly market, which is one of the largest markets in the Haute-Savoie, and not to be missed!

Last but not least, Samoëns is the only winter sport town to be designated ‘Caisse Nationale des Monuments Historique’ and awarded ‘Ville Fleurie,’ and the prestigious “Coq d’Or” which designated the town as one of the most beautiful villages in France.

Grand-Massif Ferme du Ciel

Le Grand-Massif

Le Grand Massif is one of the largest ski areas in France and encompasses, Samoëns, Les Carroz, Morillon, Sixt Fer-à-Cheval and Flaine. It includes over 265 km of slopes, over varied terrain perfect for all levels of skiing and snowboarding.

Le Grand Massif enjoys some of the most regular snowfall in Europe due to its proximity to the Mont Blanc (and associated micro-climate), and 80% of the slopes are facing north. Therefore, the snow lasts longer and stays in excellent condition all season long.

In addition, Le Grand Massif is home to the longest blue run in Europe, La Piste des Cascades. An incredible 14 km descent from the summit of Flaine (2500m) through to the village of Sixt over a spectacular, winding route, through the region’s largest nature reserve, and providing awe-inspiring views of the Mont Blanc Massif and the Buet Mountains.

It is one of only 155 villages in all of France to be a member of Les Plus Beaux Villages de France (The Most Beautiful Villages of France), which is a title well-deserved.

Situated at the entrance to the largest nature reserve in the Haute-Savoie, 80% of Sixt’s territory is protected national park. Therefore, it offers some of the region’s most spectacular scenery, including the famous Cascade de Rouget. In addition, Sixt is home to France’s second largest natural cirque, the national heritage listed Cirque du Fer a Cheval. There are over 750 km of walking and hiking trails to be discovered!
