We are your hosts – Su and Andy!

We came here because we adore the scenery, the lifestyle, the opportunity to ski, the food…where to stop?! We love it and our aim is to ensure you feel the same by the time you leave. We want you to enjoy a top quality luxury holiday in relaxed surroundings. Our aim is for you to feel as comfortable as you are in your own home – without the work!

We arrived here after scouring the mountains and valleys for a year looking for the perfect spot. We pretty soon decided on Samoëns; mostly because of its charm, the fact it is still unspoilt, the fantastic facilities and its central location in the stunning Grand-Massif ski area on powder snow…oops! - we’re going on again! And then finally we found the farm – in the middle of a little hamlet, surrounded by mountains and vistas in all directions, bathed in sunshine- we were then completely seduced by the sheep with bells on in the next meadow…

So – finally we managed to swap our hectic lives in the UK for our new one in France.

Our lives before France?..

Su started her career in hotels and restaurants. She loved the buzz and mixing with so many people, but after 10 years decided it was time for a change, and moved into helping other people do the work instead – in Management Development; eventually making the shift into Management Consultancy. She is still combining this with running Ferme du Ciel. She intends to bring all her skills to bear on ensuring you all have a fabulous time!

Andy spent 25 years in the RAF as an engineer, before taking early retirement (he thought!) 5 years ago. On leaving the RAF he bravely undertook work in a hotel for a while (to learn how not to do it!). He is now bringing his ideas and experiences here…!

So – how did we get from Management Consultancy and the RAF to here? Well, we decided to treat ourselves to a gap year (and a half actually – it was so good), and in the course of that spent a winter running a ski chalet in Chamonix. We had such fun – we decided to buy one! (so that we could do it even better)

So here we are…looking forward to our third season at Ferme du Ciel...happy to regale you with tales of life in the Alps,our renovation nightmares or of our past seasons….and really keen to get to know you!
