Getting a ski pass

Hassle-free hire and passes 2011/2012

For Samoens in the Grand-Massif ski area, lift passes are available in three categories - Debutant, Massif and Grand Massif , according to the areas you`d like to ski.

6 day

Debutant passes are suitable for complete beginners and allow access to the nursery slopes only. It’s best to buy them on a daily basis – when you’re ready to progress from the beginners’ area you’ll need to step up to a Massif or Grand Massif pass.

A Massif pass allows you to ski all throughout Samoëns, Morillon, Les Carroz and Sixt – plenty of terrain for anyone up to intermediate level for several days. There are some lovely blue and red runs, along with some great blacks and off-piste terrain, so the Massif is not just for intermediates.

The Grand Massif pass covers the entire ski area – the four resorts of the Massif, plus Flaine. Flaine is a superb, enormous bowl of endless skiing, both on and off piste, and is ideally suited to advanced skiers and those who like to explore. If you’re an intermediate skier, it’s probably worth buying a Massif pass and upgrading to Grand Massif on those days you’d like to visit Flaine.

  • Children under five and adults over 75 ski free of charge in the Grand Massif. Proof of identity is required, so bring along a passport or birth certificate to collect your free ski pass.
  • Non-skiers or parents with small children can buy pedestrian passes (€6), which allow access up the Grand Massif Express gondola to the beginners’ area, which has a great sledging slope for little ones.
  • Season passes can be a cheaper option for those intending to ski for more than one week. An adult Grand Massif season pass is €429 (instead of €859) and a children’s €249 (instead of €638), if purchased before 10 December 2011.

Other options include:

Massif Freedom pass – valid for 24 hours of skiing over six days. Your ski hours are clocked every time you take a lift. Adult €155, children €117.
Family Pack – a reduced price on six-day Grand Massif passes for four people (2 Adults, 2 Children) is €664.70 or (3 Adults,1 Child) is €710. You’ll get four six-day passes for the price of five days.                                                                                  Happy Days pass – three days of skiing (consecutive or not), made up of one weekday and two weekend days. Valid all season, €66.

Equipment hire

We’re delighted to be working again this year with Roland Ski Set, which offers efficient service and competitive rates. There are shops in Samoëns village and on the mountain at 1600m – where there are also heated lockers, so you can leave your equipment here rather than carrying it back and forth to the chalet.
