Packing for a luxury skiing holiday

While we succeed in providing you with the most luxurious catered chalet we can find, we want to make sure that packing before you get to us is an easy, stress-free experience. Packing for a skiing holiday can seem complicated, you should feel reassured that you’re coming to us with everything you could possibly need. Let us handle the rest.

Skiing essentials

Some people choose to hire skiing equipment when they get to us, which is perfectly fine. If you’re a keen skier with their own equipment and/or boots, make sure to pre-book a ski carriage. Leaving this until last minute is never sensible, as skis are impossible to squeeze into your suitcase. Despite embarking on a luxury skiing holiday, if you’re wanting to go off-piste, the danger is just as real. Make sure to bring an airbag, transceiver, shovel and probe so you’re fully prepared.

Keeping warm

If you’re visiting France in the depths of winter, thermals are a must-have. You can thank us later! You’ll also need a specific skiing jacket and trousers, a normal one won’t cut it for minus temperatures. You might also want to consider sunglasses, a hat and some proper ski socks. As much as you’ll love your luxury catered chalet, you shouldn’t be needing to come back to it halfway through the day to warm up.

Regular items

As we mentioned, the French Alps offer much more than just skiing, and we recommend that you explore some of Samoen during your visit. You’d look slightly out of place roaming the regular streets in ski gear, so don’t forget to pack some regular – but still warm – clothing. While a skiing holiday appears very different from a regular poolside one, many of the essentials are the same. You won’t believe the tan you’ll pick up on the slopes, but make sure to pack sun cream so this isn’t burning instead. Our fabulous chalets also feature an outdoor pool and Jacuzzi, so bringing a swimming costume is a must.
